my fit fam.

Tomorrow I begin my summer nutrition course. Although I’m slightly excited to get back into the “groove” of books and school, I’m apprehensive. Apprehensive because I don’t think I’ve been able to find a good balance of school, work, and personal life without feeling like I’m lacking in one or more area at any given time. I used to be very diligent in writing everything down. I mean, EVERYTHING! Plans, budgets, workouts, schedules, ideas, to-dos, etc. I’m sure if I got back into creating my list, I would have an easier time transitioning back into school mode again without feeling overwhelmed, rushed, or flaky.

This weekend I made it out to Trailhead at the Trinity River. I honestly had no idea what I was getting myself into. After my last post, Carrie texted me because she was just as excited as I was. Our friend Kristin “KK” was in town from Oklahoma for the weekend, so we all ventured down to Trailhead.

As we showed up, they were just starting to lay mats down for the class. Carrie was hesitant, thinking we were heading to a yoga class. Which would probably wouldn’t be a bad idea for me at this point. My butt still hurts!

For the next 45 minutes we endured series of squats, leg lifts, crunches, Spiderman pushups, side planks, planks, jumping jacks, and to top it off, sprints!!!

The look on KK’s face was priceless at the mention of sprints. All in all, we had a good time. I’m so proud of my girls. They rocked it. I have a lot of work to catch up on.

We survived and lived to tell about it. We even got to enjoy the afternoon on the lake! Yeah, we workout!

I plan on returning next week for a HIIT class. Anyone wanna join?

Have you ever gone to free classes in your area? Did you like it? Would you return?

friendly fort worth.

One of the “selling points” for me returning to Fort Worth has always been the Trinity Trail. I love that there are ALWAYS people out riding, running, and walking out on the Trail. I remember riding my bike out on the trail one chilly January morning before moving back home. I was almost in tears of the beauty, life, and peacefulness of being on the Trail.

Fast forward a year later, and my efforts of making the Trail a ritual have been below average. I’m slightly embarrassed.

Today, I decided to embark on a 3-mile run.

Since returning from my Mexican vacation, I have been fighting a nasty infection that had me down with a fever and chills. A shot, potent antibiotic, and lots of water and naps later, I’m finally beginning to feel a little better.

So, while I’ve been away crying and moaning about been tired, sick, busy, and lazy. Here’s what I’ve been missing:

Exhibit A: Trailhead. Obviously, I’ve been hiding under a rock of self-pity. This is the coolest spot, EVER. Proceed to Exhibit B.

Exhibit B: Free classes. EVERY SATURDAY. Okay, free? I bet it’s lame. Take a looksy at Exhibit C.

Exhibit C: HIIT, group rides, Barre, etc. Is this real life?

We know where I will be on Saturday!! I may drag some of my friends with me as well.

While I was hiding under my rock, I missed all the native Texas wildflowers blooming. Simply gorg.

I even received a complement from a guy riding a B-Cycle on my color choice.

I love Fort Worth!

sweat pink.

What a great way to end a fabulous three-day weekend. First off, I found out the Sweat Pink application response I had been waiting for over six weeks had finally come back. I’m now one of the newest Sweat Pink Ambassadors for Fit Approach. Now, what exactly does that mean? Yours truly, is now part of an awesome community of pink sweating women and men who help motivate, inspire, and encourage our friends, families, and communities to get fit. Not only do I get to continue doing what I love- eating right, getting fit, and smiling all most of the way. I get to do all of this rocking Sweat Pink swag!!! Sweet shirt and pink laces. Also, as a SPA I get some cool discounts on cool products which I’ll be able to review and let you all know what I think. I’m really excited, not only with the mission of Fit Approach but the timing of all of this.

This week starts Week 3 of my Arbonne 28 Day Detox. Might I add, I’m feeling more energized and “less fluffy.” I feel stronger in the gym especially. This Wednesday begins the 7-day cleanse portion of the detox.

I spent this weekend in my home state of Texas. I was able to visit my local Ft. Worth YMCA on Saturday morning for a good lift and had a good giggle at the guy that literally did biceps on EVERY single machine and free weight he could get ahold of. I saw a squat rack, he saw bicep curl rack. I’ve literally never seen biceps done in so many ways. Brings a whole new understanding to, “friends don’t let friends skip leg day.”

Back to the grind tomorrow, and next post, I will be sure to post my mile updates. Back to getting fit and sweating pink.
